BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Here are our Board of Directors, and their answers to the question: Why do you choose to be on the Board for AccessHome?
Retired RN, Public Health Nurse
My long time friend was on the board, there was a need, as an RN, Public Health Nurse care for people with disabilities has hit close to home and my heart. My husband, Vic Ogrey, and I have had many different interests. One of our endeavors was buying, fixing up and selling homes. So the two interests dovetailed together.
LINDA M. CARPENTER, J.D.
Retired - Former Chief Counsel for Far Northern Regional Center
I had the opportunity to see this agency be established and develop over the years. Now retired, I wanted to participate in this agency’s involvement with serving our community’s difficult housing needs in a more personal manner.
Certified Biogram Therapist and Home Care Provider
Change is an inevitable part of our life, good and bad. Some of the changes we control but many we do not. My family has seen several, from a scuba diving accident that resulted in Brain Injury/Schizophrenia to Early-On-Set Alzheimer’s. These changes can effect all of you including financial. Many of our disabled and homeless people are in need of help through others. They need calm and stability to be able to move forward. I am proud to be a part of Access Home who’s goal is just that.
LERAE ARIAGNO, MA
Children First and Private Practice
I believe in helping people who are struggling because we all have a story and life can be challenging at times. To be able to be part of a team that is compassionate, empathetic, and empowers others to succeed in life is a way for me to give back.
Shasta Head Start, College Student
I wanted to join AccessHome Board of Directors to have an opportunity to help other people. I enjoy volunteering where I am needed.
Advocate for We Care A Lot Foundation, Member of People First
As a person with a disability I have been through the struggle for affordable housing. I know what it’s like to be desperate for a home. I believe my experience will give me a unique insight as a member of the board of directors of Access Home.
VAL JONES, MPA
Retired 2x Far Northern Regional Center and AccessHome
I proudly serve on the AccessHome Board of Directors as a way to better the lives of citizens in our community. I wrote the grant that funded the establishment of this agency in 1997 and it is rewarding to see the differences it has made for so many.
Disability Action Center
I wanted to gain more business experience, especially from a non-profit perspective & learn more about how a board functions in that arena. Housing will continue to grow in importance for any given community. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the solution to providing affordable or special needs housing.
We Care A Lot Foundation
As the vision of Access Home states I would also like to see a future where everyone has a place to call home. Housing is such a basic but essential need for the physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being of an individual. Having worked with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities for over 20 years I have seen the struggle for affordable housing first hand.
